MILWAUKEE CENTER

Challenge

The Milwaukee Center is a mixed-use building complex comprising of the Wyndham Hotel, the Pabst Theater, the Milwaukee Repertory Theater, and a 28-story office high rise. The Milwaukee Center contains 370,000 square feet of rentable class "A" office space.

Kain Energy Corporation had to replace the aging access control system with a new state-of-the-art integrated card access, video badge, and CCTV system with minimum interruption in building operations. An additional challenge was transitioning the existing infrastructure into the I/Net Seven system platform.

Solution

Kain Energy proposed a TAC I/Net System to control:

  • 9 elevator cabs controls

  • 30 cameras

  • 4 outside entrances monitoring and control

  • 2 digital video recorders

  • 46 stairwell doors with fire alarm control

  • 40 tenant doors controls

  • 9 door statuses

  • steam, water, and electrical metering

Kain Energy utilized the reliable 7798C Viewcon to control all security equipment and systems. The transition was strategically planned and executed for minimal down time. Access controls in the eight main elevators cabs were updated with wireless technology.

Kain Energy used fiber optic technology to communicate information from the 30th floor to the guard station where video was viewed. To accommodate the needs of the present 2,500 card holders and any future additions, Kain Energy set up a system for printing photo badges with embedded data (for additional security). All cameras were connected to a digital video recording system for convenient playbacks of building and elevator activity.
